BC Sweeps Hockey East Monthly Awards

Senior captain Brian Boyle, junior goaltender Cory Schneider and freshman center Ben Smith have each garnered Hockey East monthly honors.
Boyle captured the conference's Player of the Month accolade, Schneider earned Goaltender of the Month honors and Smith gained the league's Rookie of the Month.
Boyle registered 15 points - four goals and eight assists - in 10 games in the months of March and April. An All-America first-team honoree at forward, Boyle switched from the forward lines to defense at the end of the regular season and gained All-Tournament honors at the Hockey East Tournament, the NCAA Northeast Regional in Manchester, N.H., and the NCAA Frozen Four in St. Louis.
The Hingham, Mass., resident finished the season with 53 points - 19 goals and 34 assists. He led the team in points and assists. Boyle concluded his collegiate career with 140 points - 65 goals and 75 assists - in 159 career games. He ranks 30th on the school's total points list and finished tied with Warren Lewis (1946-50) for 23rd on BC's career goals list. Boyle tied for 12th (with three others) in games played.
Schneider captured the league's goaltender of the month honors after posting a 9-1-0 record, a 1.52 goals against average and a .951 save percentage in 10 games in March and April. He earned Most Valuable Player honors at the NCAA Tournament's Northeast Regional in Manchester, N.H. and gained All-Tournament honors at the Hockey East Tournament.
Schneider finished the season with a school-record 1111 saves, a 29-12-1 record, a 2.15 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
Smith earned Rookie of the Month honors after tallying 10 points on four goals and six assists. The freshman forward registered multiple-point efforts four times, included a career-high three points (one goal, two assists) in the team's 6-2 Hockey East Tournament victory over Boston University (March 16). Smith scored the team's fourth goal in the team's 6-4 victory over North Dakota in the NCAA Tournament's semifinal round in St. Louis.
Boston College concluded the 2006-07 season with a 29-12-1 record.
