WEYMOUTH, Mass. - Women's tennis took on their fourth top-20 team in a row looking to pull the upset but dropped a 6-1 decision to 12th-ranked North Carolina yesterday morning at the Weymouth Club. The loss is BC's fourth in a row, and drops their overall record to 4-9 and 0-5 in conference play.
The Tarheels would quickly take the doubles point as they would sweep all three matches over the Eagles. The nation's 11th-ranked duo of Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long defeated Dasha Cherkasov and Lauren Cash, 8-3 while 20th-ranked Caitlin Collins and Sanaz Marand had no trouble with Alina Sullivan and Brittany Delaney, downing them 8-1.
In singles action, after knocking off the 59th-ranked player on Friday, Lana Krasnopolsky could not stay with fifth-ranked Jenna Long, as she fell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Dasha Cherkasov would pick up the only win for the Eagles at the No. 3 flight, as North Carolina would not drop a set in the remaining five singles matches en route to victory.
The Eagles will look to get their first ACC win when they next take on No. 14 Wake Forest University, Friday, March 31 at 12:00 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.
