BOSTON, Mass. - Women's Track and Field had a great evening at Boston University last night, competing in the BU 5-Way against Harvard, Northeastern, MIT, BU, New Hampshire, and Providence.
The event of the day for the Eagles was the 200 meter dash, in which BC placed the top four runners. Senior Kasey Hill took first, followed by Teyahnie Boone ('10), Meaghan Callahan ('10), Tiana Riel ('08). The four women posted times that now place them numbers two, seven, eight, and nine on the BC all-time list.
BC enjoyed similar dominance in the women's 55 meter dash, an event that saw three Eagles freshmen finish in the top four. Callahan was the winner, in a time of 7.35 seconds. Just behind her was Ariel Hazzard, who took second, while Boone finished in fourth.
In the mile, senior Jessica Flinn finished second overall, barely beaten out by a Providence runner. Flinn's time of 4:50.08 places her eighth on the school's all-time list. Flinn also took third in the 800 meter.
In the 55m hurdles, Riel was once again victorious, leading the pack with a time of 8.31 seconds. Kate Sherman ('09) and Julie Regan ('07) finished 1-2 in the high jump. Hill was back at it in the long jump, crushing the competition with a winning leap of 5.41m. Her closest competitor finished at 5.16m, a difference of nearly a foot. Hill also took fourth in the shot put, while freshman Rosemary Guerin was sixth.
Track and Field will compete once more before the ACC Championships. The Valentine's Invitational will be held in Boston on Saturday, February 10.
