Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Two Eagles played large parts in the eighth-ranked women's hockey team's Beanpot Final victory, as well as in two league wins over Providence last week, and each were rewarded by Hockey East on Monday. Sophomore Meghan Fardelmann (Lansing, Kan.) earned the TPS Player of the Week, while freshman Kelli Stack (Brooklyn Heights, Oh.) received Rookie of the Week honors.
Fardelmann notched her second career hat trick and added an assist in the 6-1 win over Boston University in last Tuesday night's Beanpot Final, earning her tournament MVP honors. Her hat trick consisted of a shorthanded goal, a power play goal and an even strength goal. In a home-and-home series against league-foe Providence, Fardelmann added another goal and two more assists to bring her three-game total to seven points. The sophomore earned a +7 rating for the week.
Stack earned eight points for the week, breaking the league record for season points by a freshman in the process as well as tying the rookie mark for assists in a season. The Ohio native tallied the eventual gamewinner in the Beanpot Final against Boston University and finished the Providence series with two more goals and three assists. Stack took a game-high eight shots on goal in Sunday's game against the Friars.
The Eagles finished the week 3-0-0, improving their record to 22-8-2. This mark breaks the program record for wins in a season set at 20 by last year's squad.
Boston College will finish the regular season by hosting Maine on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Conte Forum. The Eagles will honor seniors Michelle Lombardi and Jess Wilson prior to face-off.
