Seniors Kindyll Dorsey and Kathrin Ress combined for 44 points to lead Boston College past Miami, 78-65, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game. Boston College is now 12-12 and 2-8 in the ACC, while Miami is now 11-15 and 2-9 in the ACC.
Dorsey finished with 23 points and hit seven three-pointers, while Ress had 21 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and four assists. Senior Sarah Marshall played 40 minutes, added 14 points, five rebounds and six assists in the win.
Boston College pulled away late in the half. Dorsey stuck a 3-pointer from the top of the key at 6:36 to give the Eagles a 62-53 lead. Junior Kaydia Kentish extended the lead with a traditional three-point play a minute later. Dorsey increased the lead to 68-55 at 4:36 when she hit her final three from the baseline.
The Eagles set the tone from the start of the game behind the three Eagle seniors. Marshall opened the game with a jumper followed by a one of Dorsey's three three-pointers in the first six minutes to go up 5-2. Ress hit a lay-up between the outside shooting of Dorsey and the Eagles were up 13-7.
Carla Williams cut the BC lead to one point, 13-12 at 13:28, but it was the closest the Hurricanes would get. Ress would hit the next eight points to give BC a 21-12 lead.
Miami cut into the lead when Renee Taylor (17 points) hit a three-pointer at 2:09 to play in the half. BC held a seven point lead at the half after Marshall hit two free throws and Ress hit a jumper. Ress had 14 points and nine rebounds and Dorsey added 14 points at the half and BC went into the locker room with a 36-29 lead.
Game Notes: Freshman Mickel Picco earned her first start of the season and contributed nine points, three rebounds and three assists... Kindyll Dorsey opened the game at 3-for-3 from the three-point arc. She was 4-for-7 at the half with 14 points. She now has 51 three-pointers this season ... Ress earned her seventh double-double of the season and now has 10 for her career.
