ACC Names Stefanie Murphy Rookie of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Boston College freshman Stefanie Murphy was named the ACC Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office today. She is the first Eagle to ever be named Rookie of the Week for two consecutive weeks. This is the third time the Boston College program has garnered the award as freshman center Carolyn Swords earned the honor on Nov. 12.
Murphy, a native from Londonderry, NH, led Boston College on a three win week. Murphy, who recorded two double-doubles, averaged 23.6 points (27-for-38, 71 percent from the field) and 11.2 rebounds in the three games. She matched her season-high of 26 points and grabbed 11.3 rebounds vs. New Hampshire on Tuesday.
At the Mildred & Ralph L. White Invitational at Northwestern, Murphy notched a career-high 28 points and had seven rebounds in the win over first-round opponent, Wagner on Friday. In the final game vs. host Northwestern on Saturday, Murphy had 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead BC to a 73-66 victory. Murphy's play earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team and she was named the MVP of the tournament.
