BOSTON, Mass. - The men's and women's indoor track teams opened their winter campaigns by competing in the Husky Winter Carnival, hosted by Northeastern on Saturday, December 1.
The women turned in top five performances in almost every event. Sophomore Caitlin Bailey had the Eagles' top finish in the 400 meter dash; clocking a 58.01. Senior Alison Fogarty took second in the event with a time of 58.76. Sophomore Meghan Callahan placed third in the 55 meter dash (7.36) and then took second in the 200 meter dash (25.76).
Other top five finishes for the women included junior Alicia Henry in the 500 meter dash, sophomore Lauren Johnston in the one mile run, sophomore Samantha Gawrych, freshman Siobhan Breagy and sophomore Gretchen Andrus in the 1,000 meter run, junior Medena Knespl, freshman Christy Titus and freshman Amanda Leahy in the 3,000 meter run, seniors Kasey Hill and Tiana Riel in the 55 meter hurdles and Riel again in the long jump.
The men were also successful, marking top-five performances in six events. Senior Joshua Springer was the overall champion in the 1,000 meter run, finishing in 2:31.43 and sophomore Ryan Diorio took first in the 800 meter run. Freshman Mark Domaracki placed third in the 200 meter dash, freshman Kristopher Haynes took second in the 500 meter dash and senior Jeremy Zagorski marked a 4:19.45 in the one mile run, earning him a second place finish.
BC had multiple top-five finishers in the 800 meter run, the 1, 000 meter run and the 3,000 meter run to round out competition.
