Women's Basketball Prepares for Fairfield

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team is now 7-2 on the season and will play Fairfield tonight in Harbor Yard Arena in Bridgeport, CT (7:30 p.m.).
BC vs. Fairfield
Last season Boston College defeated Fairfield, 64-58, behind a double-double from Kathrin Ress (26 points, 12 rebounds). Then freshman Ayla Brown had eight points and 10 rebounds in the win ... Winning Ways
The Eagles are currently on a five-game win streak. It is the longest winning streak for the Eagles since the 2005-06 season when BC had a six and seven game streak in the midst of a season that led to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
The current win streak includes victories over UNH (11/27), Wagner (11/30), Northwestern (12/1), Holy Cross (12/5) and URI (12/8).
Double-Trouble
Freshman Stefanie Murphy notched her sixth double-double of the season vs. URI on Saturday, Dec. 8. Murphy had 22 points and 14 rebounds in the win. The 6-foot-4 forward from New Hampshire has started the last five games and is averaging 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds a game since she was inserted into the starting lineup on Nov. 27 vs.UNH.
Murphy has notched double figures in scoring the last seven games. In the Eagles five-game winning streak, Murphy has a double-double in every game except vs. Wagner. Though she had only seven rebounds Murphy notched her season high in points (28). Her double-doubles have come against Delaware (26-16), Notre Dame (18-10), UNH (26-11), Northwestern (17-16), Holy Cross (22-11) and URI (26-14).
In this streak, Murphy has garnered three consecutive ACC Rookie of Week honors and the MVP of the Northwestern Invitational. She is currently leading the ACC in scoring (20.0 ppg) and is second in rebounding (11.0). Murphy is also fourth the ACC in field goal percentage (.612).
