Senior defensive end Nick Larkin met with members of the news media Wednesday to discuss Saturday's game at Maryland.
Q: How difficult is it to get over the loss against FSU?
Nick: Our goals are still very attainable and we're still in the driver's seat...you have to get over it. You can't dwell on it. If you do, you're going to have a difficult time winning the next game, so out of necessity it's pretty easy.
Q: There are quite a few starting guys who have suffered some injuries. How easy or difficult is it to adjust to new players on the field?
Nick: We have done it the whole year. Every time somebody has gone down, we've had somebody step up. For instance, when I went down the third game of the year, (Austin) Giles really stepped up. I think because this team has so much depth, and because of the nature of how this season has gone, a new person, a new face is going to step up every game on both sides of the ball. I don't think we'll have as much difficulty as other teams.
Q: Maryland is missing some guys due to injuries for this game, too. What is it about Maryland that impresses you?
Nick: Just the way they come off the ball. Every year we play Maryland, they're very tough up front, and they're going to try to run the ball and run it the whole game. Their blocking style is a little bit different that what we've seen, and we try to get angles out of it. We try to knock them back, so that what's were going to have to get ready for. Playing low is key this week.
Q: How do you cope with playing night games?
Nick: I wouldn't really say I get anxious. The routine Coach Jags has before the night games is great in keeping us focused during that day, because that is the key, not to lose focus during the long hours of the day. He does a great job of that.
