
Women's Basketball Stuns Delaware at the Buzzer, 53-51

NEWARK, DE - Boston College freshman Stefanie Murphy hit a lay-up at the buzzer to lead the Eagles to a 53-51 victory over Delaware. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season.
Murphy finished the game with her first career double-double 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Eagles. She had 10 first half point, shooting a sizzling 5-for-5 from the field. In the second half, Murphy continued to carry Boston College as she added 16 points, including the buzzer beater. Junior Corey Rusin added 10 point and four assists, while Jaclyn Thoman had four rebounds and five assists.
Boston College held the lead throughout most of the second half. Delaware tied the game with 11.5 seconds to play when the Eagles threw the inbounds pass away. Blue Hens senior Kyle De Haven sunk two free throws to tie the game. The Eagles came down and set up a play for Ayla Brown. Brown's shot went off the rim and Murphy grabbed her 16th rebound and scored the game-winner.
The game was marred by fouls and turnovers by both teams. The Eagles sent the Blue Hens to the line 26 times and committed 20 turnovers. Boston College struggled all night from the foul line shooting 5-for-21, 23.8 percent for the game. The Eagles did shoot 48 percent from the field for the game.
BC Notes: Junior forward Kaydia Kentish earned her first start of the season while freshman point guard Jaclyn Thoman started her second consecutive game of the season ... Senior transfer Victoria Jones played a season high 19 minutes and contributed five points ... Junior Brittanny Johnson played 18 minutes.
