
Krasnopolsky Advances to Quarterfinals of ITA East Regional

NORFOLK, Va. - Eighth-seed Lana Krasnopolsky advanced to the ITA East Regional Quarterfinals out of a field of 128 before falling to the fourth-seed Ragini Acharya of William and Mary, 6-2, 6-4. The tournament was held from Oct. 19-21.
Krasnopolsky received a bye in the first round. After the automatic advancement to the Round of 64, Krasnopolsky defeated Lulia Doci of NJTI, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to move on with only 32 players remaining.
Krasnopolsky defeated Brown's Marisa Schoenfield (6-2, 6-2) in the Round of 32 and Yale's Janet Kim (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the Round of 16 before dropping a quarterfinal match against Ragini Acharya.
Lauren Cash was the other Eagle to receive an automatic bid to the Round of 128. Cash defeated Lindsey Keeler of Manhattan (6-1, 6-0) and advanced to defeat Ivana King of Princeton (3-6, 6-3, 6-0) in the Round of 64. Bianca Aboubakare of Brown defeated Cash in the Round of 32, 6-0, 6-2.
In singles qualifying play, Jacqueline Mabatah, Katharine Attwell and Alina Sullivan were all unable to advance. Meg Zebroski of Dartmouth, defeated Mabatah, 6-3, 6-2. Attwell lost to Denise Harijanto of Buffalo, 6-4, 6-1. Mary Beth Willingham of Dartmouth, defeated Sullivan, 6-2, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5).
In doubles qualifying action, Attwell and Mabatah defeated Longwood's Sofia Jakah and Laura Simon, 8-5. The pair lost their second qualifying match to Maryland's Andela Matejkova and Lisa Miller, 8-4.
Krasnopolsky and Sullivan received an automatic bid to the qualifying round of 64 in doubles play. The pair lost their only match to Temple's Dina Senkina and Elyse Steiner, 8-6.
Dasha Cherkasov was forced to retire from the tournament due to injury.
