Boston College freshman forward Joe Whitney has earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors, according to a league announcement made on Monday.
Whitney recorded six points -- two goals and four assists -- in two BC victories over Merrimack.
The Reading, Mass., resident tallied a career-high four points - two goals and two assists - in the team's 7-1 home win over the Warriors on Friday and registered two assists in a 4-2 win at Merrimack on Sunday.
Whitney has totaled league highs in points (11) and assists (eight) through his first six collegiate contests.
Boston College is 3-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in league play. The Eagles will host Maine in Hockey East action on Friday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
