
Women's Tennis Wins Season Opener

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After a successful fall season of individual play, the Eagles hosted their first team match yesterday, and defeated the Army Black Knights by a score of 6-1 at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
The Eagles controlled the top three singles matches dropping only a total of five games. Sophomore Lana Krasnopolsky started things off with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 position. Fellow classmates Lauren Cash and Alina Sullivan also played well winning 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively.
Freshman Brittany Delaney saw her first collegiate action at the No. 4 position but was forced to retire after dropping the first set 7-5. Rounding out the singles were sophomore Sarah Svoboda and junior Gia Nafarrete as they each earned wins.
On the doubles side, Lauren Cash and Dasha Cherkasov, who are currently ranked No. 9 in the ITA East region, had no trouble as they cruised to an 8-1 win. The tandems of Krasnopolsky and Sullivan and Svoboda and Nafarrete also won completing the sweep for the Eagles.
The Eagles next play on Saturday, January 27 at Dartmouth College at 1:00 p.m.
