Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Freshman netminder Molly Schaus (Natick, Mass.) stopped 25 of 27 shots faced against fifth-ranked Dartmouth on Sunday to capture Hockey East's TPS Player of the Week title as announced by the league on Tuesday. Despite the 2-1 loss, Schaus kept the Big Green off the score board during the second and third periods to keep the Eagles alive against one of the top teams in the country.
Other than two unassisted goals by Caroline Ethier and Gillian Apps in the first 12:56 of the game, Schaus shutout Dartmouth's fourth-ranked scoring offense in Hanover, N.H. for the next 45:56. For the third time in as many games, the rookie recorded 23 or more saves for a total of ten times on the season.
This is Schaus' first time receiving the Player of the Week award this season. Hockey East awarded her Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions, and the Rookie of the Week, Rookie of the Month, and Goalie of the Month each once.
Boston College (11-5-1, 6-3-0) will return to Conte Forum for the first time in over a month to host St. Lawrence on Friday and Clarkson on Saturday. Both games begin at 2:00 p.m.
