Charlie Davies Signs With Hammarby of Sweden's Premier Division

Boston College forward Charlie Davies has signed a professional soccer contract with Hammarby Fotboll AB of Sweden's premier division.

Davies' decision to turn pro follows a 2006 season at Boston College in which he was named to the NSCAA All-America first team, the All-ACC first team as well as the ACC's Offensive Player of the Year.

He joins a Hammarby team that most recently won the league title in 2001 and finished third in 2006.

Davies' reported that he will begin training camp in Los Angeles on Jan. 22, 2007. His first official match with Hammarby is scheduled for February 25 against FC Copenhagen in the Royal League group stages.
