Box Out Breast Cancer
January 11, 2007 | Women's Basketball
Jan. 11, 2007
This year, the BC women's basketball team will be participating in a special event, "Hoops for Hope" when they battle the NC State Wolfpack in Raleigh on Sunday, January 28, 2007. This second annual event was established to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The Eagles would like to show their support for NC State Head Coach, Kay Yow, who is a breast cancer survivor and also works very closely with this organization. Coach Yow was first diagnosed with cancer in 1987 and took a leave of absence from the team on November 23, 2006 to battle a recurrence of the disease.
We will be collecting donations at two upcoming men's and women's basketball games prior to the Eagles game down on Tobacco Road against the Wolfpack on January 28th. The first collection will be on Sunday, January 21, 2007 when the women's basketball team battles Clemson. Donations may be made at the two Fast Break Club tables located just inside Gates B and C.
We will also be collecting donations at the men's basketball game against Florida State on Tuesday, January 23, 2007. Representatives from the women's basketball program will be stationed at each of the main gates collecting donations and answering questions about the event.
Remember, no donation is too small. The BC Women's Basketball team has set a goal of $5,000 which head coach Cathy Inglese will present to a NC State representative prior the game on January 28th. We hope you will join us in our quest to "Box Out" breast cancer for good!
