University Park, Pa. - The Boston College women's golf place eighth at the Penn State Invitational, a three day tournament, held at University Park, Pa. The team finished with a score of 981 at the 14-team tournament. Penn State won the tournament with a score of 927 and was followed by the University of Washington (937 points), Yale (937 points), North Carolina Greensboro (965 points), and Rollins College (965 points) to round out the top five schools. Bucknell (966 points) and the Richmond (973 points) finished sixth and seventh respectively.
The Eagles were led by a pair of freshmen, Sara Gogolak and Meghan Martinek, who finished 15th and 32nd respectively at the tournament. Gogolak shot a 239 over the three rounds at the par 72 invitational, while Martinek recorded a score of 245. Junior Lara Smilnak placed 49th, freshman Hannah Shin was 54th and junior Katie Napleton placed 62nd to round out the tournament for the Eagles.
The next tournament for the Boston College women's golf team will be October 7 and 8 at the ECAC Championships at the Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.
