
Women's Tennis Competes At William and Mary Invitational

Williamsburg, Va. - The Boston College women's tennis team began their season this weekend at the 14th annual William and Mary Invitational. Six Eagles competed in both singles and doubles in a tournament that included a number of nationally ranked players and four of the Eagles' future ACC opponents.
Sophomore Lana Krasnopolsky began the tournament with a win over Audrey Bordeleau from Arkansas 7-6, 6-4. Krasnopolsky would finish the tournament with a 3-1 record losing only to ACC foe Lindsey Pereira from Virginia.
After losing a tough opening round match 8-6, the doubles team of Dasha Cherkasov and Lauren Cash went on to win the consolation round of flight A defeating Charleen Haarhoff and Fernanda Luiz of Old Dominion University 9-7. Cash, seeing her first action as an Eagle, would advance to the finals of her flight's consolation round losing a nail biter 6-2, 6-7 (5), 11-9.
Freshman Brittany Delaney also played well in her first collegiate competition as she and partner Lauren Cash advanced to the finals of flight C in the doubles consolation round before losing to the tandem of Rachel Wilhelm and Stanislava Cozirscaia of Arkansas. After losing her first singles match, Delaney impressively went on to win the consolation round of flight D defeating Natalie Kretzer of Virginia Tech 6-4, 6-3.
Other Eagles that saw action this weekend were sophomore Alina Sullivan and senior Lindsay Nash. Sullivan partnered with Lana Krasnopolsky in doubles while Nash competed in singles winning her first match in flight E before falling in the consolation round.
