Hanover, N.H. - The Boston College Eagles women's golf team opened its 2006 fall schedule at the Dartmouth Invitational along with sixteen other schools from across the nation. The team finished seventh overall with a score of 642 for +66 in the tournament hosted by Dartmouth College. The Eagles were led by freshman Megan Martinek, who finished tied for 16th overall, shooting +12 over the two rounds of the tournament. Harvard won the invitational with a team score of +23, and was followed by Columbia, St. John's Siena , Dartmouth and Yale.
Megan Martinek had a team-best round of 76 in her first collegiate tournament. Junior Katie Napleton placed second on the Eagles and tied for 21st overall with a score of +13 over the course of the weekend. Freshman Sara Gogolak, also competing in her first college event, finished tied for 38th at +19. Junior Lara Smilnak placed 46th overall, finishing the tournament at +22.
Boston College women's golf will compete again on September 22-24 at the Penn State Invitational in University Park.
