The Boston College football team elected senior offensive guard Josh Beekman, junior linebacker Jolonn Dunbar and junior quarterback Matt Ryan captains of the 2006 squad.
Beneath clear blue skies and comfortable temperatures, the Eagles took to the field for their second day of practice Saturday. NCAA football teams may not practice in pads until their third full day of workouts.
"We're getting a lot of teaching done these first few days," Coach Tom O'Brien said. "There's only so much you can do until we get in pads, so we're concentrating on fundamentals.
"A lot of the offense and defense is being taught and put in," he said. "Once we are able to practice in shoulder pads on Sunday, we'll be able to accomplish more. We'll get an opportunity to get into some team situations rather than concentrating on individual instruction."
Sunday's 3 p.m. practice in Alumni Stadium will be open to fans, followed by an autograph session on the field. Admission is free.
