Jenna Macchi Named to ASA All-America Championship Team

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College senior shortstop Jenna Macchi was named to the ASA Women's Major Fast Pitch Championship All-America first team. Macchi had two hits (double and single) in four-at-bats with an RBI, as she helped the Stratford Brakettes defeat the Southern California Sliders, 7-3, to capture their 27th ASA Women's Major Fast Pitch Championship.
Macchi was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Conference second team for her stellar play in 2006, leading the Eagles with a .379 batting average. She was also named to the 2006 ACC All-Tournament Team after leading the field in batting average (.571) during the tournament. In 2006, Macchi started all 48 games, scoring 35 runs and registering 61 hits. She recorded 14 doubles, seven home runs and 29 RBIs. She set a new BC single-season record for doubles (14), and her 61 hits tied her for second on the single-season records list with Cara Blumfield.
