Greensboro, N.C. - Senior Allison Anderson was one of 18 players named to the 2006 Preseason All-ACC volleyball team, which is determined by a vote of the league's 12 head coaches.
Anderson, a first-team All-ACC honoree in 2005, led the Eagles and the league in digs per game (5.90) last season. She also earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I All-Region honorable mention for the first time in her career. Anderson enters 2006 season ranked first on BC's all-time list for the most digs in a single season with 706 in 2004.
Duke University is the team to beat in the upcoming 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball season, according to the ACC Volleyball Preseason Poll. The Blue Devils received eight first-place votes and totaled 139 points in the poll, also determined by a vote of the league's head coaches. Duke returns 11 players from last year's squad that posted a 24-8 overall record, a third-place finish in the ACC.
The league's head coaches voted the 2005 co-regular season champions North Carolina and Maryland fourth and fifth, respectively, in this year's preseason poll with Florida State given the nod for sixth. The Tar Heels tallied 103 points, while Maryland picked up 98 points and FSU had 83.
Rounding out spots seven through 12 are Miami (73), Clemson (66), Wake Forest (59), Virginia Tech (33), Boston College (24) and NC State (17).
