Men's soccer has been selected eighth in the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference preseason poll, as determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.

North Carolina received the conference's top pick with 73 points. Virginia was chosen second by the coaches after accumulating 65 points. Maryland rounded out the top three with 62 points.
Completing the preseason poll in order of projected finish is Duke (56), Clemson (47), Wake Forest (38), Virginia Tech (33), Boston College (16) and NC State (15).
Boston College will play exhibition contests at Southern Connecticut State (Aug. 15) and at Fairfield (Aug. 18), before hosting Boston University in its season-opening game on Friday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
