Three teams that earned berths in the NCAA Tournament, three non-league tournaments and 22 matches against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents highlight a challenging schedule for the 2006 Boston College volleyball team.
The Eagles, led by head coach Andrea Leonard, will open the season with tournaments at Miami (Ohio) University (Sept. 1-2), at Connecticut (Sept. 8-9) and at Rhode Island (Sept. 15-16).
Boston College begins its ACC schedule with road matches at Miami (Sept. 22) and at Florida State (Sept. 24), before returning to Chestnut Hill to host its first of five straight home tilts.
The Eagles welcome Virginia on Sept. 28 for the team's home opener, followed by Virginia Tech three days later. On Oct. 3, BC hosts NCAA tournament participant Maryland, followed by Clemson (Oct. 6) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 8).
All totaled, the team will play six more conference games in October, including home dates with Florida State (Oct. 27) and Miami (Oct. 29), and nine conference contests in November, including home matches with Wake Forest (Nov. 10) and Duke (Nov. 12).
The team concludes the regular season with at home against NC State (Nov. 25).
Boston College finished the 2005 season with a record of 9-22, including a 4-18 conference mark in its first year of ACC competition. The Eagles return 12 letterwinners, including six starters, from last year's squad.
