Smith Update: Craig Smith reported that his wrist is improving. After his trip to Las Vegas as part of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Smith noted he now has much "more motion" in his wrist. While he did not play in the team's games in the Vegas Summer League, he did participate in the team's non-contact drills.
Smith hopes to return to Las Vegas soon to resume full-contact workouts. Pending medical clearance, Smith will participate in Tim Grgurich's Big Man Camp from August 1-5. Grgurich is currently an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets.
Dudley's Doings: Jared Dudley's determination to improve his game seems obvious based on his busy summer schedule. The San Diego, Calif., resident has spent little time at home.
After completing the spring semester in early May, Dudley remained on campus until late June, taking a summer course and participating in on and off-court workouts. He then returned home for a short stay, before heading 400 miles to the east to Tucson, Ariz. There he played at the 2006 Lute Olson Advanced Skill & Development Camp. Dudley competed each night of the camp - which ran from June 29 through July 1 - with many former Arizona and current NBA players.
Among others playing at the camp were Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia), Damon Stoudamire (Memphis), Salim Stoudamire (Atlanta), Jason Gardner and Luke Walton (LA Lakers).
Dudley then headed to Indianapolis for the Nike All-American Camp. There he served as a counselor, along with BC teammate Sean Williams. The camp offered both players great competition during staff scrimmages.
Next up for Dudley will be a trip to Santa Barbara, Calif., where he'll serve as a counselor at the Michael Jordan Flight School from August 1-5. This camp will offer Dudley yet another opportunity to hone his skills against some of the nation's elite players.
Where's Louis? Louis Hinnant is currently at home in Maryland, where he is working on his game. Hinnant's constant workout partner has been former Clemson forward Sharrod Ford. Hinnant and Ford were high-school teammates are Gwynn Park High School.
Hinnant is making plans to continue his playing career in Europe. At this time, he's weighing offers from teams in Germany, Italy and Sweden.
On Campus: The following players are currently on campus: Tyrelle Blair, Sean Marshall, Tyler Neville, Sean Williams, Daye Kaba, Tyler Roche and Shamari Spears.
This past Saturday night (July 15), Roche netted 20 points to lead New Hampshire to a 102-81 victory over Vermont in the 26th annual Twin State Basketball Classic. The game was played in Patrick Gym on the campus of the University of Vermont. Roche received the Michael Johnson Outstanding Player Award for New Hampshire.
