Sneep And Ferriero Selected In NHL Entry Draft

Boston College incoming freshman Carl Sneep and sophomore Benn Ferriero were selected in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, B.C. Sneep was a second-round pick - No. 32 overall - of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ferriero was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the seventh round (196th overall).
Sneep, a 6-foot, 3-inch defenseman and product of Brainerd Senior High School, recorded 37 points - 13 goals and 24 assists - in 2005-06. He earned Associated Press and Pioneer Press first-team All-State recognition as a senior for the Warriors. At the conclusion of his high school hockey season, Sneep joined the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. A native of Nisswa, Minn., Sneep recorded six points - one goal and five assists - in 22 games. He will enroll at Boston College in September 2006 and will be eligible to play in the 2006-07 season.
Ferriero, a forward, recorded 25 points - 16 goals and nine assists - and played in all 42 games for BC last winter. He earned Hockey East All-Rookie team honors and shared the programs's Bernie Burke Outstanding Freshman Award with Brett Motherwell. A native of Essex, Mass., Ferriero tallied eight points - five goals and three assists - in eight post-season games, including a pair of power-play goals in BC's opening-round win over Miami (Ohio) University (3/24) in the NCAA Tournament's Northeast Regional. Ferriero twice captured Hockey East Rookie of the Week recognition - on Dec. 12 and Jan. 9.
