Forward Brian Boyle will serve as captain of the 2006-07 Boston College hockey team and forward Joe Rooney and defenseman Mike Brennan will serve as assistant captains, according to an announcement made by Eagles' head coach Jerry York.
Boyle and Rooney are now completing their junior years and will lead the hockey team as seniors. Brennan is now completing his sophomore year and will lead the team as a junior.
Boyle, who centered BC's top line in 2005-06, has played in 117 games in his first three years at Boston College. He registered 52 points - 23 goals and 30 assists - in 42 games in his junior season, raising his collegiate total to 87 points - 47 goals and 41 assists.
Rooney, who finished the 2005-06 season as left wing on the Eagles' second line, has tallied 44 points - 13 goals and 31 assists - in 115 collegiate games. In his junior year, he recorded 18 points - five goals and 13 assists - in 42 games.
Brennan, a 6-foot defenseman, registered 12 points - two goals and 10 assists - in 42 games this past season, bringing his two-year total to 20 points - four goals and 16 assists in 82 games.
Boston College finished its 2005-06 season with a 26-13-3 record. The Eagles advanced to the Frozen Four - its sixth in the last nine years - and fell to Wisconsin in the national championship game.
