Chestnut Hill, Mass. - All three Boston College sailing squads were in action over the weekend, with each team turning in an impressive performance. The No. 10 Boston College women's sailing team qualified for the National Championships in May after a strong showing at the NEISA Championships. Leigh Kempton and Emily Flint set the tone with a strong performance in A division, while teammates Maura Winston and Lauren Gillooly were able to win three of their first four races in B division. Both Kempton and Flint were named to the All-NEISA team by virtue of their weekend performance.
The co-ed sailing team took home their ninth Intersectional regatta victory of the year, this time claiming the Morris Trophy sailed at Boston University. Juniors Jay Connolly and Erin Morley won A division, while teammates Spencer Powers and Brooke Dow finished second in B division. At the Thompson Trophy sailed at Coast Guard, one of the premier Intersectionals of the spring season, Boston College rallied to a second-place finish with a strong Sunday showing. The trio of Adam Roberts, Alyson Whitehead and Alden Reid took third place honors in A division, while Reed Johnson and Julie Howe also finished third in B division.
Boston College sailing also captured the Priddy Trophy, NEISA's Spring Freshman Championship. Freshman Brian Kamilar and Andrew Schneider sailed to a 24-point victory at Tufts University, completing a sweep of Freshman competition for the Eagles in 2005-06. Earlier this fall, Boston College won the Conference Freshman Championship as well as the Atlantic Coast Championship.
