Women's Lacrosse Tops Holy Cross, 9-5

Newton, Mass. - Senior tri-captain Elizabeth Kadison tallied a game-high four points on three goals and one assist as seven different Eagles scored in a non-conference match against Holy Cross on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles trailed only once in the game as they went on to defeat the Crusaders, 9-5. BC improves to 8-6 overall.
The Crusader's leading scorer, sophomore Patricia Sutton opened up scoring at 29:03 in the first half to give Holy Cross its only lead of the night as the Eagles answered back with a 5-0 scoring run in the first half.
Freshman Maura Mahoney scored first for BC on a free-position goal at 26:07 to tie up the game at 1-1. Kadison scored the next two goals for the Eagles first on a pass from freshman Jenna McCabe at 25:01 then next from freshman Emily Hannigan at 15:31. Hannigan tallied her only goal of the game less than a minute later on a free-position shot to give the Eagles a three goal lead, 4-1. Junior Brennan Joyce finished the offensive attack for the Eagles in the first half with 32 seconds left on a free position shot to take the two teams into halftime with a score of 5-1.
Holy Cross came roaring into the second half as they scored three straight goals in the first 17 minutes of the game. On an Amy Archambault free-position goal, the Crusaders came within one with the score at 5-4. Freshman Margot Spatola scored five minutes later to increase BC's lead to two. Senior Lizette Blohm also notched a goal at 10:43 off a pass from classmate Kadison to put the Eagles up, 7-4.
McCabe recorded her first goal of the game with 3:39 left in the game and Kadison notched her third with 42 seconds left off a pass from Lauren Fitzpatrick for BC's final goal of the game. The Crusader's Cara O'Sullivan scored with 15 seconds left in the half making the final score 9-5.
Senior tri-captain Brooke Wilson and Fitzpatrick picked up a game-high four groundballs each.
Sophomore Courtney Zwirko got the start and win and goal as she allowed five goals and made six saves on net.
The Eagles host ACC opponent Maryland on Saturday, April 22, for Senior Day at 1 p.m. at Newton Campus Field.
