Women's Rowing Races Past Rhode Island

BOSTON - The Boston College women's rowing team competed against Rhode Island and one Radcliffe crew on Boston's Charles River on Saturday, April 15. BC's varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and novice four boats took first place.
The varsity eight race featured the afternoon's closest contest. BC posted a first-place time of 7 minutes 21.6 seconds, Rhode Island clocked in at 7:26.1 and Radcliffe's lightweight crew finished the race in 7:31.2. The varsity eight race marked the only contest in which Radcliffe competed.
BC bested Rhode Island in the varsity four race by 16.3 seconds. The Eagles turned in a time of 8:43.4 while the Rams posted a time of 7:51.6.
BC had little trouble finishing ahead of Rhode Island in each of the afternoon's novice races. In the novice eight race, the Eagles finished in 7:52.6. The Rams clocked in at 8:03.8, a difference of 11.2 seconds. BC posted a time of 9:13.5 in the novice four race while Rhode Island finished in 9:56.6.
Rhode Island raced past the Eagles in the second varsity eight race. The Rams posted a time of 7:42.9, and BC finished the race in 7:51.6
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 22, when they race in the ACC Championships on Lake Hartwell, in Clemson, S.C.
