Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team collected the early doubles point, but could not capitalize, dropping two tie-breaker sets in singles and falling to No. 35 NC State, 5-2.
The doubles tandems of Lana Krasnopolsky and Dasha Cherkasov and Szilvia Szegedi and Alina Sullivan won their matches 8-5 to give the Eagles a point early on.
In singles, Szegedi, who has been battling injuries in recent weeks, lost a hard-faught first set to Barbara Orlay 7-6(4) before the match was retired.
Sullivan and Lindsey Nash both put together strong efforts, but lost closely contested third sets. Krasnopolsky defeated Alejandra Guerra 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 for BC's lone singles win.
The Eagles will face Boston University at home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
