Shockley Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Kristen Shockley, a 2000 Ohio Wesleyan University graduate and standout volleyball and basketball player has been named assistant coach of the Boston College volleyball team, Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo announced. Shockley joins head coach Andrea Leonard for the 2006 campaign.
Prior to BC, Shockley coached at Dartmouth College. She was the Associate Head Coach for the Big Green in 2005 and worked as an assistant before that with the team from 2002-2005.
In the 2001 and 2002 seasons she was an assistant at DePauw University. DePauw had a 59-12 record during her tenure and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
Shockley was also an assistant for the DePauw women's basketball team that finished third in the NCAA tournament under the guidance of 2002 NCAA DIII National Coach of the Year, Kris Huffman. She also served as a health and physical performance instructor.
Shockley enjoyed a successful collegiate career at Ohio Wesleyan University as a two-sport athlete. In volleyball, she was a three-time captain and received NCAC All-Conference honors from 1996-1999. Shockley is the school's all-time leader in career kills and digs and holds the NCAC record for career digs.
She was part of the NCAC volleyball championship in 1996. In basketball, Shockley's team won the NCAC championship in 1998-99 and was coached by the 2001 NCAA DIII National Coach of the Year, Nan Carney-DeBord.
She was a Dean's List scholar as well as earning the NCAC Scholar-Athlete award in 1999-2000. She was also a member of three different Honor Societies during her collegiate career.
Shockley has worked a number of summer camps, including the Nike Camp at Dartmouth and volleyball camps at Bentley College, Boston College and the University of New Hampshire.
Shockley resides in Chestnut Hill.
