CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College senior forward Chris Collins is among the 10 finalists for the 2006 Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the best player in college hockey.
Collins, who earned 2006 Hockey East Player of the Year honors, ranks among the nation's scoring leaders with 57 points - 30 goals and 27 assists in 36 games. He is the first Boston College player to score 30 or more goals in one season since Brian Gionta registered 33 goals during the 2000-01 campaign.
Collins enters the Hockey East Tournament's semifinal round leading the country in points per game (1.58). He ranks second nationally in shorthanded goals (5) and third in goals per game (0.83).
The 2006 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 7 p.m. from Milwaukee, Wis.
