Chris Collins Earns Hockey East Player of the Week

Boston College senior left wing Chris Collins has earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors, according to an announcement made by the conference on Monday.
Collins recorded four goals and one assist in consecutive wins over Vermont. The Fairport, N.Y., resident scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation en route to BC's 3-2 win in overtime on Thursday and tallied three goals and one assist in a 6-2 series-clinching victory on Friday.
Collins has registered 57 points - 30 goals and 27 assists - in 2005-06. His four-point performance against Vermont on Friday marked his 17 multiple-point game, ninth multiple-goal effort, fourth four-point game and second hat trick of the season.
The senior alternate captain leads the country in points per game (1.58) and ranks third in the nation in goals per game (0.83) and short-handed goals (5).
BC earned a berth in the conference semifinal round where it will face Maine in the TD Banknorth Garden on Friday, March 17 at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast by NESN.
