Men's Basketball Earns No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - The Boston College men's basketball team earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 13 seed Pacific (24-7) on Thursday, March 16. Selected to the Minneapolis region, the Eagles (26-7) will play their first-round tournament game at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Game time is 12:40 p.m. (EST).
This marks BC's third-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and the program's 16th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles own an 11-3 record in first round contests since their first berth in 1958.
Thursday's matchup against Pacific marks the first meeting between both schools. BC maintains a 2-0 lifetime record against current Big West Conference teams. The Eagles last played a Big West opponent on Nov. 25, 1994 - BC defeated Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 97-60, in Conte Forum.
The 2006 NCAA berth marks the second-consecutive season in which BC enters the tournament as a No. 4 seed. Last season, the Eagles downed Pennsylvania, 85-65, in Cleveland, Ohio.
The winner of Thursday's contest will play the winner of No. 5 Nevada vs. No. 12 Montana on Saturday, March 18.
