
Women's Ice Hockey Falls to Maine

Orono, Maine - The Eagles fell to the University of Maine Black Bears on Saturday afternoon, ending a five-game win streak. Freshman Becky Zavisza, the lone scorer for the Eagles, scored her 16th goal of the season. The Eagles are now 18-10-4 overall and 15-4-1 in Hockey East play.
Maine opened up early and often in the first period as the team scored three goals within two and a half minutes of each other.
Pam Patterson scored her first of her two goals at 16:06 in the first period off a pass from Karine Senecal. Sonia Corriveau then scored two power-play goals at 17:25 and 18:16. The Bears sat on a comfortable 3-0 going into the second period as the Eagles were unable to convert on the net.
Patterson scored her second goal of the afternoon at 15:23 in the second to put the Black Bears ahead, 4-0.
Finally at 7:00 in the third period, Zavisza took a pass from senior Jill McInnis, to tie her for first on the team in goals scored (16) with sophomore Deborah Spillane.
The Black Bears out shot the Eagles, 27-12 for the afternoon.
Senior Alison Quandt ended the night with 23 saves. Maine goalie, Genevieve Turgeon, ended the night with 11 saves. Boston College will finish its away-and-away series again Maine on Sunday. The puck drops at noon.
