Spillane Named USCHO Division I Offensive Player of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Sophomore Deborah Spillane was named this week's United States College Hockey Online Division I Offensive Player of the Week. Spillane led the attack against the Harvard Crimson on Feb. 14 as she scored both goals in the Beanpot championship game. BC won its first championship in the event's 28-year history.
After earning the Beanpot's MVP award, Spillane was instrumental in the Eagle's two-game sweep of the Providence College Friars. Spillane tipped in BC's lasting-lead goal in a 4-2 win over Providence College on Sunday afternoon. This game completed the Eagles' first-ever weekend sweep ever over the Friars. Spillane continues to lead the Eagles in scoring as the team clinched the No. 2 seed, their highest ever, for the Hockey East Championship next weekend. BC has won 12 of 14 games and remains in contention for the NCAA tournament.
Senior goalie Alison Quandt earned the Beanpot's Bertagna Award for the top goaltender in the tournament. She was one of two runner-ups for USCHO Defensive Player of the Week.
Both Spillane and Quandt earned Hockey East honors this week as Spillane earned the Player of the Week for the second time this season. Quandt earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, also for a second time. The Eagles finish the regular-season this weekend at Maine on Saturday and Sunday. The puck drops both days at noon.
