Senior Craig Smith and junior Jared Dudley have earned All-District first-team honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, according to an announcement made by the organization.
Smith and Dudley are joined on the District I first team by Connecticut's Rudy Gay, Northeastern's Jose Juan Barea and Massachusetts' Rashaun Freeman.
This year marks the fourth consecutive season in which Smith has earned NABC All-District honors. Last winter, Smith also gained NABC All-America third-team accolades. Dudley captured 2004-05 All-District honors as well.
The 6-foot-7-inch Smith is currently averaging 16.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, both team highs. He has scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games this season. Smith has notched eight point-rebound double-doubles.
The 6-foot-7-inch Dudley is averaging 16.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He leads the Eagles in steals, averaging 1.3 per game. Dudley has scored in double figures 24 times this season, including eight games with 20 or more points. He has three point-rebound double-doubles to his credit.
The NABC selects All-District teams in 15 districts across the nation. The 150 student-athletes selected to the All-District teams (first and second teams) are now eligible for the NABC All-America teams. The All-America selections will be announced at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season.
Boston College, which has a 21-6 record and is currently ranked 11th in the Associated Press national poll, returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 25 at North Carolina State.
