Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshman goaltender Johanna Ellison has earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday. This is the second time this season Ellison has earned this honor. Ellison has also earned the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 31.
Ellison earned her second shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Eagles traveled to Storrs, Conn., where they faced the Connecticut Huskies for the third time this season. Ellison stopped all 14 shots she faced. Ellison has recorded two of the Eagle's three shutouts this year.
Ellison now stands at 3-3-2 on the season with a .913 save percentage. Ellison has 190 saves in eight games played and 2.31 goals against average.
Also making the Hockey East honor roll this week is sophomore Sarah Feldman for the fourth time this season. Feldman scored the Eagles' two goals in the Eagles' game on Saturday. This marked her fourth two-goal game this season. Feldman is now tied for first on the team in goals scored (13) with classmate Deborah Spillane and freshman Becky Zavisza. Also appearing on the honor roll for the first time this season is sophomore defenseman Cristin Stuart. Stuart set-up three of the four scores for the Eagles in the first round of the women's Beanpot last Tuesday and has tallied at least one point in the last three games for the Eagles.
The Eagles now 15-9-4 overall and 13-3-1 in Hockey East play host Harvard University tonight in the Beanpot Championship. The puck drops at 8 p.m.
