Nathan Gerbe Named To U.S. National Junior Team

Boston College sophomore forward Nathan Gerbe has been selected to the 2007 U.S. National Junior Team, according to an announcement made by USA Hockey. Team USA will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships from Dec. 26, 2006 to Jan. 5, 2007, in Leksand and Mora, Sweden.
The roster is comprised of the best American players under the age of 20. Gerbe was a member of last year's U.S. National Junior Team and is one of eight returning players on this year's roster.
Gerbe's selection marks the 11th consecutive year the BC has been represented on the U.S. National Junior Team.
He has played in all 13 games for Boston College this season and has tallied 10 points - seven goals and three assists. Gerbe leads the team in game-winning goals (3), power-play goals (3) and shorthanded goals (2). The Oxford, Mich., resident is tied for the team-lead in goals.

Junior Dan Bertram, a native of Calgary, Alberta, is one of 38 players invited to participate in Canada's National Junior Selection Camp from Dec. 10-15, 2006, in Calgary. Bertram is one of 11 returning players who captured the gold medal for Team Canada at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship in Vancouver. Canada's National Junior Team roster will be announced on Friday, Dec. 15.

Boston College is 8-4-1 and is ranked No. 6 according to both major national polls released on Monday. The Eagles return to action on Friday, Dec. 8, at Massachusetts.
