CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (AP) - Sean Marshall scored all 14 of his points in the first half and Jared Dudley had 11 of his team-high 20 as Boston College shot a sizzling 80 percent in the opening 20 minutes to pull away for their sixth straight win, a 101-68 non-conference victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles (7-2), who next play at No. 11 Kansas on Saturday, set a Conte Forum record for most points in a first half with 60. The school-record for most points in any half at home is 71, set Dec. 2, 1991 in a 123-78 win over New Hampshire.
Sean Williams and Tyrese Rice had 16 apiece for BC, and Shamari Spears had 11 points and 12 rebounds. All the regulars saw limited playing time as Eagles coach Al Skinner went deep into his bench early. BC shot 58 percent for the game.
Jarrid Frye paced the Pioneers (5-6) with 12 points.
The Eagles, who never trailed and were just tied twice in the opening two minutes, led 60-30 at halftime.
BC grabbed the lead 7-4 on Marshall's 3-pointer 1:49 into the game and used their hot first-half shooting to break the game open, connecting on 15 of their first 17 shots in the game.
After taking the lead for good, the Eagles used a 12-2 spree midway into the half, pulling to their first double-digit lead 22-11 on Rice's driving basket 6:21 into the game. Marshall had 11 points as they scored 21 of the final 25 points in the half.
For most of the game, it was constant up and down action, with the shot clock hardly ever winding to single digits before the teams fired up shots.
In the second half, the Eagles' shooting cooled a bit, but they reach the 100-point mark for the first time since Dec. 4, 2002 when they beat St. Bonaventure 105-96. Daye Kaba's driving basket with 16.6 second left pushed BC over the century mark.
Sacred Heart had won its last three games, averaging 94.3 points per game.
