BOSTON - Senior captain Brian Boyle and sophomore forward Benn Ferriero each scored third-period goals and junior goalie Cory Schneider made 30 saves as seventh-ranked Boston College and Northeastern skated to a 3-3 Hockey East tie before 5,173 fans in Matthews Arena.
Trailing by one goal entering the third period, Boyle tied the score at 2-2 with a power-play tally at 1:01.
Ferriero gave the visiting Eagles (6-3-1, 3-1-1 Hockey East) a 3-2 advantage at 5:33 with his team-high sixth goal of the season.
BC maintained its one-goal margin until Northeastern senior Mike Morris put a rebound past Schneider for the game-tying goal with 2.5 seconds left to play in regulation.
BC freshman forward Ben Smith scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal - the first goal of his collegiate career - at 11:43 to give the Eagles an early one-goal lead.
Northeastern (2-7-2, 0-6-1 Hockey East) evened the scored with 27.5 seconds remaining in the first period, then took a 2-1 advantage on freshman Costello's fifth goal of the season at 17:32 of the second stanza.
The Huskies, who were out shot by a 14-8 margin in the opening period, finished the game with a 33-30 advantage.
Northeastern freshman goaltender Brad Theissen recorded 27 saves.
Boston College finished with 16 penalties totaling 35 minutes and Northeastern was whistled for 15 penalties totaling 30 minutes. The teams combined 14 first-period penalties that totaled 31 minutes.
