Women's Cross Country Captures NCAA Northeast Regional

Bronx, N.Y. - The Boston College women's cross country team captures first place at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in the Bronx, N.Y. The Eagles won the tournament with an impressive 82 points, competing against 40 other schools. With this victory, Boston College has qualified as a team for the NCAA National Championships on Monday, November 20 in Terre Haute, Ind. The Eagles will be one of 30 competing schools in the tournament hosted by Indiana State University.
Iona (85 points), Providence (97 points), Columbia (128 points) and Cornell (135 points) rounded out the top five at the Northeast competition. Seven runners placed for the Eagles.
Boston College was led by sophomore All-ACC runner Mallory Champa, who placed seventh in the meet with a time of 21:19.0. Classmate Nichole Lister placed 15th, crossing in 21:45.6.
Seniors Kristen Coon and Jessica Flinn finished 17th and 19th, respectively. Coon crossed the line in 21:56.5, while Flinn finished the race in 21:57.9.
Freshman Brielle Chabot was 24th with a time of 22:10.8 and classmate Jessica Driscoll was 68th. Driscoll crossed the line in 23:13.7 to round out an impressive showing at the NCAA Northeast Regionals by Boston College.
