Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Freshman goaltender Molly Schaus (Natick, Mass.) followed up last week's outstanding defensive play with more of the same on Saturday against Quinnipiac. Stopping all 23 shots faced against the Bobcats, Schaus earned the Hockey East ITECH Rookie of the Week honor on Monday after receiving the Defensive Player of the Week last Monday.
The 10th-ranked Boston College women's ice hockey team defeated Quinnipiac, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Kelley Rink to improve to 2-0-0 on the season.
On Saturday, Schaus did not allow a goal, lowered her goals against average to 0.50, and recorded her first collegiate shutout. She has been credited for 41 saves and a .976 save percentage in her 120 minutes in front of the net this season.
The Eagles will travel to Orono on Sunday to open up their Hockey East play against the Maine Black Bears. Game time is at noon.
