Seventh-ranked Boston College enters its second ACC Championship as the fourth seed, finishing the regular season with a 14-5 overall record and a 2-3 league record. The Eagles won their conference games against Virginia and Duke, while dropping to Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest. This is the sixth consecutive postseason appearance for Boston College and the program's 13th league tournament in the last 15 seasons.
Going into the tournament, Boston College is on a two-game slide, losing to two tough opponents --UConn and Wake Forest--each ranked in the nation's top ten. The Eagles' last win came on October 22 at home against New Hampshire by a 5-2 score.
Last year in the ACC Championship, the Eagles picked up the five seed and played North Carolina in the first round game, losing 2-1 on November 3, 2005. Boston College was selected to the NCAA Tournament at the Princeton, N.J. regional, and lost to former BIG EAST rival UConn, 3-2, despite taking and an early 2-0 lead in the first half.
