Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Coming off of a loss on Friday night, the Eagles looked to bounce back with a win but fell short, losing a tough four game match to the University of Miami today at Power gym. The loss drops the Eagles to 5-8 in ACC play.
In game one, the two teams steadily traded leads, with the Eagles holding a slight edge, 10-9 early on. BC would extend their lead to four, 17-13, after an attacking error on the Hurricanes. Miami would cut the deficit to three, 18-15, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way as the Eagles gradually pulled away for the 30-20 game one win.
In game two, the Eagles got out to an early 9-5 lead but Miami would rally in a big way, winning 11 of the next 13 points to take a 16-11 advantage. The Eagles would cut the deficit to 20-18, after a Taylor Williams service ace. But that would be as close as BC would get, as Miami would rattle off 10 of the next 13 points to capture game two, 30-21.
In game three, the teams again would exchange leads early on with Miami holding a slight 11-9 advantage. The Hurricanes would extend their lead to six, 17-11, after a kill by Elescia McGee. BC would rally though, winning 13 of the next 20 points tying the score at 24-24 after an Abigail Hasebroock kill. But, Miami did not falter, taking six of the last seven points to win an important game three, 30-25.
Miami would jump out to an early game four lead, winning nine out of the first 10 points to take a commanding 9-1 advantage. The Eagles would get a crucial rally to cut the Hurricanes lead to two, 14-12, after a kill by Kelsey Johnson. BC would tie the score at 19-19 after a kill by Taylor Williams, one of her 17 for the match. The two teams would battle back and forth the rest of the way, playing some exciting points. With the game tied at 28-28 and the Eagles serving, Miami would win a long and critical rally and stave of BC with a 30-28 win.
The Hurricanes were led on offense by senior Frannie Savage who had a match-high 19 kills. Casilia Loessberg also played well tallying 25 digs on the defensive end.
