
Berkowitz Receives ACC Co-Player of the Week Honors

Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Boston College sophomore goaltender Julia Berkowitz (Amherst, Mass.) became the first Eagle to receive an ACC field hockey accolade this season when the conference announced its co-Players of the Week on Monday. Berkowitz shares the award with Maryland's Nicole Muracco after making 15 saves in the double overtime thriller against fourth-ranked Duke on Saturday and then recording her fourth shutout of the season on Sunday.
On Saturday in Durham, N.C., Berkowitz faced 28 shots in 93:29 of play in the 2-1 double overtime win against the Blue Devils. The goalkeeper allowed only one goal and stopped 15 shots, including seven during the overtime periods. Berkowitz led the Boston College defense which stopped all 17 of Duke's penalty corner opportunities
The next day against Appalachian State on the Duke campus, Berkowitz made four saves and captured her fourth shutout of the season for the Eagles. Boston College went on to win, 9-0, over the Mountaineers.
Berkowitz has compiled a 1.29 goals against average and .820 save percentage in 12 games this season. She leads the ACC with 73 saves and with over six saves per game.
Seventh-ranked Boston College (10-2, 2-1 ACC) will travel to Providence on Wednesday to face the 15th-ranked Friars at 7:00 p.m.
