Benn Ferriero Earns Hockey East Rookie Of The Week

Boston College freshman forward Benn Ferriero earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors, according to an announcement made by the conference on Monday. Ferriero registered four points - three goals and one assist - in conference wins over Northeastern and Providence over the weekend.
A resident of Essex, Mass., Ferriero scored two goals - his second multiple-goal outing this season - in BC's 4-3 win over Northeastern in Kelley Rink on Friday. He followed that performance with one goal and one assist in the Eagles' 4-1 win at Providence on Saturday. Ferriero has registered all 11 points - seven goals and four assists - in the last seven games.
It marks the second time Ferriero has garnered the distinction this season. He earned the award on Dec. 12, following consecutive three-point performances in a weekend sweep of Massachusetts. It is the fourth time a BC player has been selected as the conference's rookie of the week.
BC improved its record to 12-4-2 and 10-2-1 in Hockey East play with two wins this weekend. The Eagles are ranked fourth according to both major polls release Monday. Next BC hosts Merrimack in Kelley Rink on Friday at 7 p.m.
