Women's Basketball Announces New Recruits

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team received four national letters of intent from its 2006-07 class of recruits, as announced by head coach Cathy Inglese. The following is a list of players who will join the Boston College women's basketball team as freshmen next season:
Ayla Brown
6-0 Guard
Noble & Greenough HS/Wrentham, Mass.
22nd female player in Massachusetts to score 2,000 high school points
Averaged 23.0 ppg, 16.0 rpg in 2005 as her team went 23-2
2005 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year
"Ayla is a classic scorer who is very athletic," says Inglese. "She possesses the ability to rebound and mix it up inside."
Elisabeth Egnell
6-1 Guard
Degeergymnasiet HS/Norrkoping, Sweden
Selected to the Swedish National Team in the summer of 2005
"Beth is the youngest player ever to make the Swedish National Team," says Inglese. "She is a scoring, versatile player and can play the 1, 2, and 3 positions."
Mickel Powell-Picco
5-8 Guard
James Bowie HS/Austin, Texas
Averaged 28.3 ppg, 4.6 spg, 3.9 rpg, 3.4 apg
Two-time Texas Basketball Magazine All-State
TABC Region II First Team
All Central Texas Second Team
District 16-5A MVP
"Mickel is a scoring point guard with great court sense and natural leadership ability," says Inglese. "An outstanding 3-point shooter, she went under the radar of a lot of coaches."
