Schneider Earns Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Boston College sophomore goaltender Cory Schneider earned Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week recognition, according to an announcement made by the conference on Monday. Schneider stopped 54 of 55 shots in a two-game sweep of Merrimack this past weekend.
Schneider registered 17 saves in a 2-1 win over the Warriors on Friday and stopped all 37 shots en route to a 5-0 shutout at Merrimack on Saturday. The shutout marked his third of the season and second against the Warriors. Schneider recorded 16 saves in a 3-0 win over Merrimack (Nov. 26) and tallied 21 saves in a 7-0 win over Massachusetts (Dec. 9).
The Marblehead, Mass., resident has played in 17 games this season and is 12-4-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. In league play, Schneider is 11-2-1 and owns a 1.49 GAA, which ranks second among conference goalies.
BC improved its record to 14-4-2 and 12-2-1 in Hockey East play with two wins this weekend. The Eagles, who are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games, are ranked No. 2 in the country according to both major polls released on Monday.
Schneider shares defensive player of the week honors with Vermont goalie Jim Fallon. Next, BC hosts Vermont in the first of a two-game series against the Catamounts in Kelley Rink on Friday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
